The goals of the Merriam Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) are to promote and facilitate parent and faculty communication; advocate for Merriam students; encourage parent involvement in the Merriam community; enhance Merriam community relations; and raise funds to enrich the educational experience at Merriam School. A heartfelt thank you to the Merriam Community for their generous donations of time and funds during the 2010-2011 school year! Through the hard work and tremendous support of the community, we met our fundraising goal of $ 90,000. Our fundraising goal for 2011-2012 is $ 90,000.

EASY MONEY FOR MERRIAM

Hard to believe, but you can raise money for Merriam just by collecting a few things when you shop. Here’s how:

BoxTops for Education

Do you buy Yoplait yogurt? Viva paper towels? Kleenex tissues? These are just a few of the many items that have the small BoxTops for Education stamp on them. Clip the stamps, send them in regularly to Merriam with your child (there’s a box in the office to collect them), and that’s it. This simple activity has raised thousands for the school -- please help!

Donelan’s Receipts

If you shop at Donelan’s, you can help Merriam earn FREE school equipment! It’s even easier than BoxTops -- no clipping! Just save your cash register receipts from September 1 to March 31, and send them in regularly to Merriam with your child -- again, there’s a box in the office to collect them. This amazing program has yielded a sound system and countless other supplies for Merriam.

Want to get involved? We have a lot of opportunities.

Friday Mail : Join a group of fun, friendly parents Friday mornings at 8:30 to collate the information packets that go home every Friday

Thursday Photocopying: Volunteer Needed every other Thursday

Office help: We are in need of additional volunteers for the Merriam School front office. The commitment is a few hours in the morning for one day every other week.

We are also looking for parents to help out with the Book Fair, Camp Fair, and Auction.

We also welcome your ideas, suggestions and feedback on the website or anything else!
