Direct Donations are Always Welcome!

The Merriam PTO Board has received several inquiries from parents wondering how to make a direct donation – and possibly a matching corporate gift – before the end of the year. We typically make a direct donation appeal in April; however, direct gifts to the PTO are welcome at any time of the year!

If you wish to make a tax-deductible contribution before the end of 2008, please mail your check, payable to Merriam Community PTO, to Merriam Community PTO, c/o Merriam Elementary School, 11 Charter Road, Acton, MA 01720, Attn: Dianna McNeish, PTO Treasurer. Please indicate “direct donation” in the memo field at the bottom left of your check.

The Merriam Community Parent Teacher Organization is a non-profit corporation, or 501c3. This means you may be eligible to have your donation to the PTO matched by your employer. More than 1,000 companies match employee gifts to non-profit organizations. Please check with your personnel office today to see if your donation could be doubled (or even tripled) by a matching gift from your employer. For a document verifying our 501c3 status, please contact Dianna McNeish.

All donations are confidential. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Neena Arora, PTO Co-Chair              Kristina Rychlik, PTO Co-Chair

Dianna McNeish, PTO Treasurer            Eleni Digenis-Bury, PTO Secretary

scrip is here

The Merriam PTO is pleased to offer Merriam families a new “cashless” fundraising program – the Scrip Shopping Card Program.  This is a program where you can purchase gift cards to many of the places where you already shop or eat, at no additional cost to you, and the Merriam PTO earns a percentage of each card.

How do I buy cards?  It is a very simple procedure. Simply fill out the order form (click here for form) distributed in Friday mail, and then send it back to school with a check, payable to “Merriam PTO”. Your cards will be available 1-2 weeks after the deadline. We will let you know when your cards are in (you will have a choice of picking up your cards at the office or having them sent home with your child).

For more information about the SCRIP program,  click here!

EASY MONEY FOR MERRIAM

Hard to believe, but you can raise money for Merriam just by collecting  a few things when you shop. Here’s how:

BoxTops for Education

Do you buy Yoplait yogurt? Viva paper towels? Kleenex tissues? These are just a few of the many items that have the small BoxTops for Education stamp on them. Clip the stamps, send them in regularly to Merriam with your child (there’s a box in the office to collect them), and that’s it. This simple activity has raised thousands for the school -- please help!

Donelan’s Receipts

If you shop at Donelan’s, you can help Merriam earn FREE school equipment! It’s even easier than BoxTops -- no clipping! Just save your cash register receipts from September 1 to March 31, and send them in regularly to Merriam with your child -- again, there’s a box in the office to collect them. This amazing program has yielded a sound system and countless other supplies for Merriam.
