What is a Makerspace?
Makerspaces provide hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build and
invent as they deeply engage in science, engineering, art and tinkering. A makerspace is not solely a
science lab, woodshop, computer lab or art room, but it may contain elements found in all of these
familiar spaces. It encourages STEAM/STEM learning through student-driven inquiry and project based
learning. In our PDB makerspace, students will work on library skills, technology skills, and STEAM
projects.
Help us Keep THE PDB Makerspace STOCKED:
An important part of maintaining a makerspace is having a variety of tools that allow students to
create, build, and experiment. Many of these materials are everyday household items and supplies that
may not seem extraordinary, but when used creatively, achieve results that might surprise you. We are
asking the PDB community for new, gently used, or excess items that you no longer need. Please use
your judgement in only sending clean, gently used materials that can be easily re-used. Our needs
are specific to the items listed below. If you would like to donate any of the items, you can send them in
with your child or drop them in the box labeled “PDB Makerspace Donations” outside the main doors.
We are asking that all items be brought in between Wednesday November 3rd & Friday November
12th, 2021. We thank you in advance for your support in “making our PDB makerspace great.”
