PTO Meeting #3 (Acton’s Finance Committee speaks on the Town’s Financial Health and what happens to your tax dollars)

January 24, 2018 @ 7:30 pm
Merriam Library
11 Charter Rd
Acton, MA 01720
“One of our only charters on the Finance Committee is to advise the town on our financial health.  Rather than just speak to motions during Town Meeting, we started reaching out to PTOs and other community organizations in order to both listen to the taxpayer and to disseminate information to as large an audience as possible.  These meetings are meant to be informative and interactive. ”
Would you like an overview of how your town taxes are used?  What is the state of the town’s financial health anyway?
This Wednesday, January 24th at 7:30pm The Merriam PTO is pleased to welcome Acton’s Finance Committee (FINCOM!) to present their Point-of-View presentation, and answer questions on the subject.    This is a really valuable opportunity to become significantly more educated on the current and proposed use of your town tax dollars so that you can fully understand upcoming budget meetings – both at the School Committee’s Budget Saturday, and the Town Meeting coming up in March.
The FINCOM! presentation to be followed by a brief discussion of upcoming Merriam events  and/or general school-related questions if time permits.
