Welcome to Merriam’s Second Annual Fun Run/Walk! This will be our only significant fundraiser this year so we are hoping everyone will support this wonderful event! Our goal is to raise funds to support activities and programs throughout the school while also encouraging school spirit and improving physical fitness and wellness.
Event Details
The lead up to the Fun Run/Walk will begin this morning with a lively kickoff at All School Meeting. Over the next ten days, there will be discussions and activities about health, fitness, nutrition, sleep, and hydration in all of our classrooms during Wellness Week. The culmination of these activities will be the Fun Run/Walk on the morning of October 22nd at the lower turf fields. Each student will run, jog, or walk for 30 minutes at their own pace on set loops grouped by grade. Every student and teacher will participate during what would typically be All School Meeting time. There will be music, water stops, and lots of fun!
Fundraising
In order to make the Fun Run/Walk a successful fundraiser for Merriam, each student will be asked to raise donations for their run. These will be flat donations for the 30 minute run regardless of laps completed. There are two ways to collect donations:
Online Donations- We are working with the Get Movin Fund Hub to handle online donations. To set up a donation page for your child:
1. Click on the link: https://www.getmovinfundhub.com/register?school_uuid=612fb126e956f
2. Complete the registration and your child will receive his/her own donation page.
3. Use the fundraising page to promote online pledge donations with family and friends, using the email and social media tools right on their personal page. Most credit/debit cards are accepted.
4. If you prefer to work form the company’s main webpage: (https://www.getmovinfundhub.com), the required school identifier is 612fb126e956f
Check Donations- Check donations should be collected and returned to you student’s classroom teacher. Checks should be made out to the Merriam PTO and must include your student’s name and teacher.
Donations will be collected from October 15 through October 29th. Please also consider any corporate matching programs. Donations will not be tracked on an individual student basis but will be consolidated by teacher for some fun competition between grades. Our fundraising goal is $25,000!
We are really looking forward to this fundraising event and encourage everyone to work with their children to collect donations to support their student’s run/walk. Please help us support our wonderful school! Please direct any questions to Beth Chimento at beth.chimento@gmail.com
